Almost every weekend, my husband and I go to Campbellsville, about an hour-and-a-half away from Louisville, to visit my daughter, my son-in-law, and our granddaughter, Charlotte.
We like to take everyone out to eat when we go. Campbellsville is a college town, so there are many options for dining out. We invariably go to Brothers. We can’t get enough of their delicious barbecue.
We entered from the back of the restaurant, hence the back entrance pictures.
The front entrance has a sign that is just a meat cleaver. That is the symbol of their restaurant. This entrance gives a charming view of downtown Campbellsville.
I am a Kentucky girl, so I have eaten my share of good barbecue.
Brothers is hands-down the best barbecue I have ever eaten. I get the pulled pork, which is shredded so finely that it just melts in your mouth. They have a trademark sauce that adds to the flavor of the pork. They also serve barbecued chicken, brisket, and wings among other things. I haven’t met a side dish there that I didn’t like . Last Friday, everyone ordered something different, and each person loved what they ordered. They also serve great appetizers.
For those who don’t wish to eat barbecue, they have other options. The night we were there, they were offering a special of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, biscuits – a complete meal.
The atmosphere is pleasant. There are two walls of exposed brick, and the lighting is designed to give an air of coziness. The floors are hardwood, and the tabletops are distressed wood. It is a very comfortable place to eat. Many of the locals come to eat there on a Friday night, and my son-in-law said that almost everyone there knew most of the other people in the restaurant. The happy chatter and laughter added to the warmth of the place.
The restaurant was extremely busy that Friday night, but the hostesses worked to seat people as promptly as they could. Considering the crowd, our server made sure we had our order in a few minutes, and she came by the table several times to refill drinks, or to see if we needed anything.
All in all, eating at Brother’s is a delicious experience.
